More Wise Words
So many wise people on the internet, so little time. Again, another email being sent around without an owner. But wise words indeed:
FIREARMS REFRESHER COURSE
1. An armed man is a citizen. An unarmed man is a subject.
2. A gun in the hand is better than a cop on the phone.
3. Colt: The original point and click interface.
4. Gun control is not about guns; it's about control.
5. If guns are outlawed, can we use swords?
6. If guns cause crime, then pencils cause misspelled words.
7. "Free" men do not ask permission to bear arms.
8. If you don't know your rights you don't have any.
9. Those who trade liberty for security have neither.
10. The United States Constitution (c) 1791. All Rights reserved.
11. What part of "shall not be infringed" do you not understand?
12. The Second Amendment is in place in case the politicians ignore the others.
13. 64,999,987 firearms owners killed no one yesterday.
14. Guns only have two enemies; rust and politicians.
15. Know guns, know peace, know safety. No guns, no peace, no safety.
16. You don't shoot to kill; you shoot to stay alive.
17. 911 - government sponsored Dial-a-Prayer.
8. Assault is a behavior, not a device.
19. Criminals love gun control -- it makes their jobs safer.

Oh C'mon, Laugh A Little
Again I have stolen someone else's joke. I would give credit where it is due, if I knew who to give the credit to. Whoever they are, I thank them.
A teacher was explaining the two party system to her students, and little Tommy raised his hand to say he plans to be a Republican.
"Why is that?" asked the teacher.
"Well," he replied, "My father was a Republican, and my grandfather was a Republican, and my great grandfather was a Republican.
"Wanting the child to think for himself, she prodded: "What if your father, and your grandfather, and your great grandfather had all been thieves?"
Quickly Tommy responded, "Then I'd be a Democrat."

Don't Lose Faith
“Reviewing the polls printed in The New York Times and The Washington Post in the last month of every presidential election since 1976, I found the polls were never wrong in a friendly way to Republicans. When the polls were wrong, which was often, they overestimated support for the Democrat, usually by about 6 to 10 points.”

The Fisherman and the Balloonist
This was not written by me.......but it's too good not to pass along. Unfortunately, I don't know to whom the credit is due, but I thank them.
The Fisherman and the Balloonist
A woman in a hot air balloon realized she was lost. She lowered her altitude and spotted a man in a boat below. She shouted to him, "Excuse me, can you help me? I promised a friend I would meet him an hour ago, but I don't know where I am."
The man consulted his portable GPS and replied, "You're in a hot air balloon, approximately 30 feet above a ground elevation of 2,346 feet above sea level. You are at 31 degrees, 14.97 minutes north latitude and 100 degrees, 49.09 minutes west longitude."
She rolled her eyes and said, "You must be a Republican."
"I am," replied the man. "How did you know?"
"Well," answered the balloonist, "everything you told me is technically correct, but I have no idea what to do with your information, and I'm still lost. Frankly, you've not been much help to me."
The man smiled and responded, "You must be a Democrat."
"I am," replied the balloonist. "How did you know?"
"Well," said the man, "you don't know where you are or where you are going. You've risen to where you are, due to a large quantity of hot air. You made a promise that you have no idea how to keep, and you expect me to solve your problem. You're in exactly the same position you were in before we met, but, somehow, now it's my fault."

McCain/Palin '08
I have decided to actively start campaigning for John McCain. I was a bit leery of him at first, but he has grown on me considerably. I started favoring him more and more after watching the Saddleback Forum. I think today he proved himself by picking Alaska's Governor Sarah Palin as his running mate. Go here to read a bit more about her.
I watched most of the democratic convention on TV and frankly was quite frightened by what I heard. Although I do think Hillary gave an excellent speech, It was more about her than Obama. If I had been made to choose between those two, I would've picked Hillary over Obama. (Chilling thought that I might have had to pick between those two.) Obama scares the shit out of me quite frankly.
But since this is the USA, I have a better choice, John McCain. I was one of those waiting and wondering who he was going to pick as his VP. I was going with Romney because that is who I voted for in the primaries. I thought he would be the best choice amongst those the media were touting as on McCain's short list.
Imagine my shock and surprise when I heard his choice was Gov. Sarah Palin. At first I wasn't sure who she was. Then I realized I had heard her name before. I looked up a bit of info on her, then I waited for the official announcement and speech on TV this morning. I was pleased with what I saw.
I do hope everyone will seriously look at the issues and make a wise and sound decision about what truly is best for this country. And if you still want to vote for Obama after seriously looking at the issues, think about this:
10 Ways to be a good Democrat
1. You have to be against capital punishment, but support abortion on demand.
2. You have to believe that businesses create oppression and governments create prosperity.
3. You have to believe that guns in the hands of law-abiding Americans are more of a threat than U.S. nuclear weapons technology in the hands of Iranian Islamic fundamentalists and North Korean communists.
4. You have to believe that global temperatures are less affected by cyclical documented changes in the earth's climate and more affected by soccer moms driving SUV's.
5. You have to believe that the AIDS virus is spread by a lack of federal funding.
6. You have to believe that the same teacher who can't teach 4th-graders how to read is somehow qualified to teach those same kids about sex.
7. You have to believe that hunters don't care about nature, but loony activists who have never been outside of San Francisco do.
8. You have to believe the NRA is bad because it supports certain parts of the Constitution, while the ACLU is good because it supports certain parts of the Constitution.
9. You have to believe that taxes are too low, but ATM fees are too high.
10. You have to believe that the only reason socialism hasn't worked anywhere it's been tried is because the right people haven't been in charge.
(I did not write the above, not sure who did, but the points are valid).
Regardless of who you are voting for, please just remember TO VOTE! It is a privilege that few around the world are afforded.
